The Dark Knight - IMAX version

Ben's picture

I was fortunate enough that my friend M wanted to see The Dark Knight so we went to IMAX at Paragon and luckily it was working this time. What an amazing difference it makes when they film something specifically for IMAX. This is the first film to ever be done specifically for IMAX, others have had to be converted using the IMAX DMR process, and the picture is simply stunning.

When they say that this is a film you absolutely must see at IMAX, they're not kidding at all. The entire film doesn't fill the screen, which might sound confusing, but it makes sense when they're showing the city or some other big scene filling the massive IMAX screen. It's the close up and personal scenes that are in the tighter aspect ratio and you usually won't even notice they're using it until the picture once again fills the screen. It's possible that I appreciate it more having seen the film on a normal screen previously, but I loved it.

I saw the regular version

I saw the regular version first and thought that was absolutely brilliant already. Then I saw the IMAX version and was literally blown away. Heath Ledger's version of Joker blown up on that IMAX screen scared the shit out of me, and I loved it! I cannot stop raving about this film. :)
