Playstation 3

Facebook Says Games are Fun, and Stuff

I’m really loving my PS3 lately and more love is forthcoming after my recent order of God of War Collection.

There was a recent firmware update to the PS3 which added Facebook connectivity  and something else that I didn’t care about. I don’t actually care about Facebook, I’m only on it because so many people I know are on it and I fully expect it to be dumped for the next social networking fad shortly (Twitter failed to sway ‘the masses’). Anyway, I’ve enabled every Facebook option on my PS3 and was disappointed to see that it aggregates my posts rather than doing them individually. I had been hoping to irritate the hell out of everyone to give them the gentle push away from Facebook.

Also, I saw 2012 and it lived up to the over-the-top-ness that I had hoped for. It’s basically every single disaster film you’ve ever seen rolled into one.

Earthquake Yes
Floods Yes
Tsunami Yes
Volcano Eruption Yes
Government Cover-up Yes

Ok, so technically the last one isn’t a disaster.

The film features every cliche you can imagine and doesn’t disappoint in terms of the sheer scale of destruction. The level of proficiency with which the effects are handled are jaw-droppingly realistic and if you’re anything like me, will make you feel extremely uncomfortable concerning the wholesale death of billions of people.

Just keep rolling

Just keep rolling

I didn’t post about this yet, mainly because I’ve been preoccupied playing it, but I think I am in love all over again. I don’t remember the original game being so hard, but at least there are different modes this time around.

It’s Our Secret

Shh! I just ordered Katamari Forever from the US and Oui doesn’t know.

Luckily he never visits ‘our’ blog.

PS3 Hitting It’s Stride

If you haven’t heard the news: God of War Collection – Blu-ray Disc Compilation Available This Holiday Season!

All I can say is FUCK YES! This gives me hope that they’ll possibly do the same for ICO and Shadow of the Colossus.

Something Finally Clicked

We bought a PS3 nearly a year ago and in all that time I’ve been trying to find a game that would get Oui interested in it. Even Little Big Planet wasn’t able to penetrate his ambivalence, but last night I found the game.

While he and I were looking through the PSN his reluctance to buy anything was decieving, in reality derived from his inherent cheapness, but when it was downloaded he was transfixed. His hands wrapped around the controller in a death-grip only hardcore gamers would recognise, his eyes fixed on the screen, his face constantly transitioning between intense concentration to intense effort.

The game?

Watching him with the controller makes me concerned that he’s going to break it so I try not to watch, but I did manage to walk myself off a cliff in WoW while watching the game. Funilly enough he seems to have come around to the idea of buying a second controller now too, even though I’ve explicitly stated that there is no way I’m going to play it with him. He’s got his eye on Super Puzzle Fighter HD next.

Oh, and for a HD remake Marvel vs Capcom 2 HD looks shit. You can tell they barely put any effort into it.

I Want My Katamari

I am so desperate to get my hands on Katamari Forever, the new Katamari game coming to PS3 to be released in the US on September 22nd. The previous games on the PS2 were awesome and if the game is exactly the same on PS3 I will be happy. I don’t care what it is, I just want to roll stuff up.
