Dragon Age

Since I’d already bought Uncharted for PS3 this month I knew Oui wouldn’t let me get another game, so I had to download Dragon Age: Origins to give it a try. I have to admit that while the game is good it is quite a ways from being great so far and I have to confess that the return to a Baldur’s Gate 2 control-style is most unwelcome.

It’s been a while since I played a game that runs like crap on my pc and now that I’ve seen how poorly Dragon Age performs I’ve come to the realisation that a game that doesn’t perform well is nowhere near as fun as one that does. I’ve tried turning down the detail but it doesn’t seem to make much difference. The whole experience reminds me of Neverwinter Nights 2, which I’m sure might have been fun had I ever been able to get it to run reasonably well.

Oh, did I mention the blood? There is ridiculous amounts of it in Dragon Age and I’m talking about blood bursting from bodies and the resultant splatter covering your character/s for a while. It’s actually quite disgusting and totally unnecessary in my opinion.

I’m only a little into the game so I haven’t experienced much of it yet so perhaps it will redeem itself shortly, but has anyone else checked it out? What do you think?

I’ve read you need to give the game at least 6 hours to even start scratching the surface… meh. it looks… good, I guess and I did fancy it on 360, but with Borderlands last month, MW2 next week, WoW (of course) and Torchlight… well, I just wouldn’t be able to fit it in.

I stupidly started the game again and saved over my previous game because I was struggling with the rogue and the game doesn’t allow you to skip the origin story (because apparently it’s important). I’m not sure I can endure it again however…

I just started Dragon Age (on the PS3). I loved Baldur’s Gate. Sometimes I just want to fight however. I loved the old level editor so hopefully that is back.

Uncharted 2 was a lot of fun.

I also picked up the pc version of Dragon Age at Pantip last month but never installed it.
