I think I mentioned already the reason I bought the ATI 4870 (because they didn’t have the nVidia card I wanted in stock) and I purchased an AMD CPU because I wanted to support the underdog, but Puzzle Quest: Galactrix crashes after about 30 minutes of play on AMD CPU’s, Crysis Warhead just won’t work at all using DX10 on the ATI 4870 (I didn’t buy the card to run in DX9 mode?), and now the new ATI Catalyst 9.4 drivers crash during installation and I can’t even find on AMD’s website how the hell to contact them for support!
I’ve been hearing a bit over the past year regarding AMD’s financial woes after purchasing ATI yet it seems they have other problems too, particularly a distinct lack of game developer support. There are things I like about the AMD/ATI products, though while Intel/nVidia are more expensive they at least work.
