A Convenient Explanation

The most recent episode of Lost, which has mostly been pretty good this season, featured a discussion between Miles and Hurley about the time travel that has occured. They spent the customary amount of time covering what had already been explained leaving me wondering what the point of the discussion was until Hurley asked why, if Sayid shot Ben from the past, Ben didn’t recognise Sayid when he was tortured by him in the future. I was worried they were going to gloss over this so I’m glad they’re covering it, but later in the episode it was revealed the writers of the show took the easy way out with a memory wipe.

While I can’t imagine how else they would have resolved it, I’m really disappointed they took such a cliched path to explain an interesting plot inconsistency.

Tell me about it… I thought it was pretty cool when they were discussing it… I guess they figured the audience would be going through that in their heads and decided to preempt it…. but with a pretty lame explanation. Why would they wipe his memory??

Looking forward to seeing what Lock makes of Ben having killed him.
