I am Noble, and Stuff
Apr 26th
I really enjoyed the Noblegarden event this year. I refer to it in the past tense as I am now titled-up and done. Now for Children’s Week.
I should really stay away from spoiler sites but this weeks season 3 finale for Heroes is supposed to… well, I won’t say.
As I’ve already mentioned, Heroes has been lacking this season for me. It has felt like the show has been meandering from plot point to plot point to some kind of conclusion, though I’m not certain I will care by the time it arrives. Where previous seasons have dealt with character crises in multi-episode arcs, this season has dispensed with that and taken the easier (ie shittier) route of:
Last week he was loving shape shifting, this week he has an identity crisis
Now his ex-wife is back, lucky we killed off the fling
and such stuff.
Even worse is that they’ve got characters revisiting emotional plot points that have already been used (to death). Hello? Haven’t we been here already? I honestly can’t imagine how the show could possibly be rescued from the pit of mediocrity it has dug itself into.
Lost on the other hand, I simply cannot wait to see this weeks episode with Faraday back I presume a lot of things are about to happen. Actually, I kinda know what it is already (damn spoiler sites tempting me) but the knowing hasn’t reduced my excitement.
I’ve finally figured out what it is about Fringe that I might not like. It reminds me of X-files in that each week you never know if you’ll be seeing something that matters to the overall story or some pointless side-thing. I hope this weeks episode doesn’t go off on some unrelated tangent.
WoW and Stuff
Apr 24th
No new episode of Lost this week but Fringe is looking more and more promising with the story slowly being unveiled. I’m not sure yet if the story is being inveiled a little too slowly for my liking though I’m sure a few more episodes will tell me.
Heroes was… meh. Sylar is seriously fucked up though. At first I thought he was just imagining his mother was talking to him, not that he was actually shape shifting into her! Talk about twisted. He let smooth talking Rebel (I can’t remember his name) get away even though I thought it would have been way more fun if he’d just sliced his head open indiscriminately. The problem I find with Heroes is that each episode is an hour but the progress they make each episode feels like a 30-minute show.
I’ve put my main WoW toon’s details on here now which serves the dual purpose of allowing me to parade my recent achievements. As you can see from the one at the top of the list right now I am only just getting around to doing some fishing. This is all thanks to the fishing dailies now available in Dalaran, but I was doing one today where I have to fish up 10 fish from Wintergrasp (not exactly the safest of places anytime) and the fish were taking their sweet time jumping onto the hook. I spent a good hour on it this morning and only managed four.
Gaming Advice Needed

So I’m trying to decide if I should buy The Last Remnant PC. What do you guys think?
More Lost
Apr 20th
I really love the pairing of Miles’ cynicism and Hurley’s optimism that they’ve been doing a lot of, but it makes me fear that they’re going to kill off Miles because I think he’s finally turning into a character I might one day give a damn about. The opposite has happened with Jack and Kate. I am just sooo sick of both of them and the less time they spend on screen the better, so it’s fortunate that they’ve taken a back seat for most of this season.
I have to say that while this episode didn’t really tell us much that we didn’t already know (except that one of the Ajira Air survivors was somehow back on the mainland and working for the island before the crash), I think that the guy who plays Ben’s dad is a great actor.
So the reveal has been made that Faraday left the island and is now back. Next weeks episode is only a rehash of previous ones so it’s going to be yet another week before we find out what has been happening with Faraday for three years.
Things are going to start heating up now too after one of the security guys knows that Sawyer and Kate took Ben to the others. I’m interested to see how they’ll overcome that little obstacle short of killing the guy.
Ulduar – Flame Leviathan
Apr 19th
So our guild has been making some progress in Ulduar. I’m so lucky that they want Oui because I think they’d boot me and my lackluster dps if it weren’t for his uber heals. Anyway, so far we’ve downed Flame Leviathan and Razorscale, along with a really good attempt at XT-002 Deconstructor.

Flame Leviathan (wowwiki.com)
Flame Leviathan was an unexpectedly fun fight to do because after hearing that the first part of Ulduar would be vehicle-based many guildies were dreading it from their experiences with the third phase of Malygos. There was also quite a bit of grumbling that after all our hard work getting good gear it was made mostly irrelevant in vehicles.
Lost and Heroes Update
Apr 14th
Lost has been really good this season and last weeks episode didn’t disappoint. I’m so glad that with just one more season left they’re really giving us a long hard look at what is and has been going on. Previously, in situations such as that presented in last weeks episode, when presented with a place as mysterious and interesting as ‘the temple’ they would have cut away and not really shown anything. Nowadays they’re really opening the floodgates of information. I particularly liked what happened when Lapidus rejoined the crash survivors and I think it hints at what happened with Danielle’s friends.
One piece of information I hadn’t thought on which occured to me last night. The scene where Ben and a young Ethan are skulking about Danielle’s shack intending to kill her suddenly made me think “Wait, that’s Ethan: son-of-dharma-woman-from-24. How the heck did he join the others if Ben killed them all?” Interesting things occuring in the land of Lost and I look forward to next week.
Heroes on the other hand is absolute rubbish. After having a promising season 1 the show has gone downhill dramatically. Every episode feels like filler, which isn’t surprising considering they fired to of the lead writers of the show. I keep watching it in the vain hope that my patience is going to pay off but I am increasingly losing hope.
An example, this weeks episode it was revealed that Angela had a sister who miraculously was still alive and kicking at the same place she’d been left 50 years ago. The purpose for introducing her? Who the fuck knows, but I sure as hell don’t give a damn about her. Where nearly every episode of season 1 had great momentum, featuring a multitude of character arcs, these days every episode drags on interminably.
There’s another show I’ve started watching, but I’m not sure about it yet: Fringe.
Missing the Excitement
Apr 14th
When Oui and I went out to have dinner after our Sunday evening raid we were surprised to discover all of the shopping complexes were shut. When we got back home I found out that a state of emergency had been declared in Bangkok. The same think happened with the last state of emergency and the last coup d’etat, WoW makes me miss all the exciting things in Thailand!
Anyway, there had already been a state of emergency declared in Pattaya to facilitate the evacuation of the ASEAN summit attendees after the red shirts showed up and crashed the event. I was actually making a primary colour joke in my previous post, so imagine my surprise when some blue shirts actually did show up in Pattaya to unsuccessfully oppose the red shirts.
Everything seems to be returning to normal now though and the government have declared Thursday and Friday to be extra public holidays to compensate for everyone’s Songkran being ruined by the red shirts. I’ll probably have to work though, but fingers crossed!
Think things couldn’t possibly get any better? The WoW 3.1 patch is coming down the pipe! Woo hoo!
Quotes of the Day (so far)
Apr 9th
All from the Bangkok Post (link)
Thaksin, meanwhile, said through another video-link yesterday that Bangkok’s motorists inconvenienced by the UDD blockade should be prepared to make sacrifices for the sake of democracy.
All, except him that is. The gall of the guy to even mention sacrifice, I don’t know that he even knows the meaning of the word.
“All roads will lead to Bangkok and I’ll be there with you.” Thaksin asked protesters not to go home.
Except he won’t be here, being the convicted fugitive and all.
I’ve had friends tell me that the red shirts are all uneducated dick heads and have until now always said that they’re not stupid, that they just believe something different to everyone else, but how the hell could anyone sit there and lap up Thaksin’s bullshit and not recognise it for what it is? Especially this.
Yellow, Red… Where’s Blue?
Apr 9th
The political turmoil in Thailand continues unabated. The crazy yellow shirt protesters who closed down the airports last year have been replaced by the crazy red shirt protesters who love Thaksin who, well… I honestly wouldn’t know where to begin and it’d be a disservice to them if I tried to name their crowning achievement when they’re still going strong.
Thaksin, who says he loves Thailand so much, is goading his fan club on daily to perform increasingly insane acts of dubious legality. Todays act of insanity is to block all traffic around Victory Monument (including access to the hospital there).
Thaksin’s fan club has said that if the PM and some members of the privy council (some royal thing I don’t fully get the purpose of) don’t quit by 4pm or some such time that they’ll storm government house, despite the fact they’ve previously said they wouldn’t. Despite also saying the Asean Summit would be left undisturbed earlier today, that is also now a target if said people don’t resign.
This is all in the name of democracy of course, not for Thaksin’s benefit at all. Just ask him how hard done by he is and how everyone won’t stop picking on him, he’ll tell you. Oh wait, you don’t need to ask because he’ll just tell you whether you want to hear it or not.
Thailand treats its convicted fugitives so unfairly.
